We are seeking an experienced DB2 System Programmer to support and maintain enterprise IBM Db2 for z/OS environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DB2 installation, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, upgrades, and database infrastructure support within large-scale mainframe environments.

🔹 Role Overview
Provide technical leadership and operational support for Db2 for z/OS platforms, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of mission-critical database systems.

🔹 Key Responsibilities
• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade IBM Db2 for z/OS environments
• Perform system-level administration, customization, and maintenance of Db2 subsystems
• Monitor and optimize database performance, storage utilization, and system resources
• Analyze and resolve complex production issues and performance bottlenecks
• Support Db2 migrations, version upgrades, and disaster recovery activities
• Implement database security and collaborate with RACF/security teams
• Develop automation and operational procedures to improve system efficiency
• Work closely with application teams, developers, and infrastructure groups
• Perform capacity planning and ensure database availability and scalability
• Support incident management, root cause analysis, and production stability initiatives

🔹 Required Skills
• Strong experience as a DB2 System Programmer in enterprise mainframe environments
• Expertise with IBM Db2 for z/OS administration and support
• Strong knowledge of:

• z/OS
• JCL
• TSO/ISPF
• SMP/E
• RACF
  • Experience with Db2 installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Strong understanding of Db2 performance tuning and optimization
  • Experience with database recovery, backup, and disaster recovery processes
  • Ability to analyze dumps, traces, and diagnostic information for troubleshooting
  • Strong production support and problem-resolution experience

🔹 Preferred Skills
• Experience with Db2 data sharing and Sysplex environments
• Knowledge of REXX and automation scripting
• Experience with Db2 utilities:

• REORG
• LOAD
• RUNSTATS
• COPY
• RECOVER
  • Exposure to MQ, CICS, IMS, and other mainframe subsystems
  • Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability enterprise environments
