Role Overview
This position is responsible for reconfiguring corporate physical security devices as part of an enterprise network refresh. The role is hands-on, focusing on updating and securing access control panels, IP cameras, badge readers, and other IP-based security systems to align with new network standards. This work ensures that devices are properly segmented, secured, tested, and documented in support of 24x7 business processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Reassign IP addresses for security devices to new approved subnets and move devices into designated security VLANs.
- Update associated management systems with updated device network information.
- Verify proper connectivity to access control and video management systems.
- Test camera feeds and recording functionality.
- Confirm badge access systems communicate properly and validate that firewall rules allow only required traffic.
- Troubleshoot connectivity or performance issues.
- Record IP address changes and device locations, update network diagrams, and maintain asset tracking records.
- Develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash for system administration.
- Manage IT security protocols and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
Experience: 6-10 years of experience managing IT infrastructure, enterprise IT systems, and cloud-based solutions. A strong understanding of networking, IP addresses, subnets, and gateways is critical.
Technical Skills: Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD, VMware, and enterprise authentication services. Basic understanding of IP addressing, VLANs, network switching, and Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), virtualization, and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience working with IP cameras or access control systems.
- CompTIA Network+ or CCNA certification.
Work Environment
- This position requires onsite work.
- Occasional after-hours support and flexible work hours may be necessary during scheduled maintenance windows.
- The work shift is from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
