Job Summary The Engineering Manager Digital Engineering is responsible for leading backend-focused engineering teams to design, build, and support large-scale, customer-facing digital applications. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team management, delivery ownership, and long-term technical strategy, ensuring the development of scalable and high-quality solutions for web and mobile platforms. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage one or more software engineering teams, including onshore and offshore resources Provide hands-on technical leadership across backend services, APIs, and system integrations Establish and enforce engineering best practices across architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support Own delivery execution, including capacity planning, hiring, performance management, and career development Drive long-term technical strategy while balancing near-term delivery priorities Collaborate with product, delivery, and business stakeholders to align engineering execution with roadmap goals Participate in Agile ceremonies and act as the engineering point of accountability for assigned product areas Identify risks, dependencies, and blockers, and proactively drive resolution Collaborate with platform, operations, and vendor teams to ensure system stability, scalability, and performance Support backend integration for web and mobile applications Contribute to building and maintaining distributed systems using modern architectures and tools Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience in software engineering 3+ years of experience leading and managing engineering teams Strong hands-on experience in backend development using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, and microservices Experience building and supporting large-scale, customer-facing applications Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Couchbase or similar technologies Strong understanding of distributed systems and backend integration patterns Proven experience managing offshore teams and third-party vendors Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to work onsite as required Preferred Qualifications Experience with web and mobile application development Familiarity with GraphQL and API gateway technologies such as Apigee Experience with reactive programming frameworks such as WebFlux or Project Reactor Experience with GitOps workflows and tools such as Argo CD Strong leadership mindset with end-to-end ownership and accountability Education: Bachelors Degree
