Description:

Job Title: Power BI Consultant

Role Overview

The Power BI Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. This role works closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable dashboards, data models, and analytics solutions that support data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of total IT Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in BI / Analytics
  • Microsoft Power BI certification Required


Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Gather and document business and technical requirements.
  • Conduct data discovery sessions with business users.
  • Translate KPIs and reporting needs into analytical solutions.
  • Provide advisory support on BI best practices.

2. Data Modeling & Transformation

  • Develop robust data models using Power BI Desktop.
  • Create star/snowflake schemas.
  • Implement data transformation logic using Power Query (M language).
  • Optimize data refresh and model performance.

3. Dashboard & Report Development

  • Design interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Implement DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs.
  • Ensure UX best practices (visual clarity, performance optimization).
  • Develop drill-through, bookmarks, row-level security (RLS).

4. Data Integration

  • Connect to multiple data sources:
    • SQL Server
    • Access DBs
    • Excel / CSV
    • APIs
    • Snowflake / Databricks
  • Implement incremental refresh strategies.
  • Work with ETL pipelines where applicable.

5. Deployment & Governance

  • Publish reports to Power BI Service.
  • Configure workspaces, apps, and access control.
  • Implement governance standards and naming conventions.
  • Monitor usage metrics and performance.

6. Training & Support

  • Train business users on report usage.
  • Provide troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Document solutions and data definitions.

  • Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop & Service
  • Advanced knowledge of DAX
  • Proficiency in Power Query (M)
  • Experience with SQL
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts
  • Cloud Tech (AWS, Snowflake)
