The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is seeking a high-caliber Software Engineer with DevOps expertise to accelerate the modernization of cloud architectures for high-consequence national security missions. In this role, you will champion the delivery of scalable, mission-critical applications that support vital defense and intelligence objectives. Operating within an agile, tightly knit team, you will bridge the gap between rapid application development and robust systems engineering, directly shaping the deployment infrastructure that safeguards vital operations. If you are driven by high-impact technical challenges and want to see your code make a tangible difference in national security, this is your next definitive career move.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and deploy highly scalable, resilient applications within secure, containerized cloud environments.

  • Champion the design, optimization, and administration of automated CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous, reliable software delivery.

  • Orchestrate complex containerized ecosystems utilizing cutting-edge container and management technologies.

  • Engineer and streamline robust ETL data processing pipelines alongside efficient message-queuing infrastructure.

  • Automate complex system deployments, configurations, and cloud infrastructure management through advanced scripting.

  • Drive systems reliability by monitoring environmental performance, maximizing efficiency, and implementing proactively secure architectures.

  • Synthesize technical workflows by establishing engineering best practices, collaborating across development teams, and producing crisp, maintainable technical documentation.

What You Bring

  • Technical Pedigree: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Experience Baseline: Between 2 and 10 years of professional experience building, deploying, and supporting production-grade software platforms.

  • Core Engineering: Advanced proficiency operating in Linux environments (RHEL or similar) coupled with strong development skills in Python, C/C++, or Java.

  • Cloud & Orchestration: Proven experience leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm for container configuration, alongside deep familiarity with major cloud providers (AWS, GovCloud, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).

  • DevSecOps DNA: Hands-on mastery of pipeline automation tools (such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins) coupled with a solid grasp of secure software delivery methodologies.

  • Compliance & Security: Possession of a CompTIA Security+ certification (or the immediate capacity to acquire it), backed by an active Top Secret clearance (TS/SCI highly preferred).

Advanced Technical Assets (Bonus Points)

  • Architectural Modernization: Proven success refactoring legacy code into microservices and deep familiarity with horizontal and vertical scaling.

  • Data & Middleware Mastery: Practical knowledge of Python data science frameworks (NumPy, pandas) and message brokers like RabbitMQ.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Direct experience with declarative configuration management tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

  • Observability & Analytics: Background establishing metrics and alerting via Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stacks, alongside secure image container hardening and security vulnerability scanning.
