Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Scala Developer to design, develop, and modernize high-performance backend applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Scala, Apache Kafka, microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes. This role involves developing scalable distributed systems, optimizing JVM performance, and modernizing legacy Java applications by integrating Scala components.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Scala.
  • Build RESTful and gRPC APIs to support enterprise applications.
  • Develop event-driven microservices using Apache Kafka.
  • Implement concurrent and asynchronous processing using Akka, Play Framework, or ZIO.
  • Optimize JVM performance, memory management, multithreading, and application scalability.
  • Develop and deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable software solutions.
  • Integrate applications with SQL/NoSQL databases and cloud platforms.
  • Refactor and modernize legacy Java applications by leveraging Scala and JVM interoperability.
  • Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and technical design discussions.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of backend software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Scala development.
  • Expertise in Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
  • Experience with Akka, Play Framework, or ZIO.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of JVM internals, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of reactive programming and functional programming concepts.
  • Experience modernizing legacy Java applications using Scala.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
