Summary

Manufacturing Engineer – Resistance Welding

📍 [Location] | Hands-On Engineering Leadership | High Impact Role

We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer with strong resistance welding and automation experience to take ownership of our welding operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the floor solving real problems, while also driving process stability, equipment performance, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You’ll be the technical leader for welding—owning quality, uptime, and process performance across both manual and automated/robotic systems.

What You’ll Own

Lead the Welding Operation

  • Serve as the primary engineering owner for resistance welding processes

  • Drive daily performance across quality, throughput, and uptime

  • Partner with production leadership to meet output targets

Improve Equipment Performance & Uptime

  • Optimize automated and robotic welding systems for reliability and efficiency

  • Improve OEE by reducing downtime, variation, and process instability

  • Support troubleshooting of weld controllers, power supplies, sensors, and robotics

  • Partner with Maintenance on preventive maintenance and long-term reliability

Solve Complex Problems at the Source

  • Lead root cause analysis for weld defects and equipment issues

  • Troubleshoot issues such as weak welds, burn-through, misalignment, and inconsistencies

  • Implement permanent corrective and preventive actions—not short-term fixes

Drive Process Optimization

  • Improve cycle time, throughput, and first-pass yield

  • Standardize weld parameters, process controls, and best practices

  • Identify and eliminate waste across welding operations

  • Support Kaizen events and Lean manufacturing initiatives

Support Automation & Equipment Upgrades

  • Assist with installation, validation, and startup of new welding equipment

  • Improve fixturing, tooling, and part presentation for automation systems

  • Evaluate and recommend process and equipment improvements

Build Operator Capability

  • Train and coach operators and leads on welding standards and defect prevention

  • Develop training materials and certification processes

  • Reinforce accountability, ownership, and consistency on the floor

Partner Across the Organization

  • Work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams

  • Support defect reduction, scrap reduction, and quality initiatives

  • Act as the bridge between engineering and shop floor execution

Execute with Structure (EOS Environment)

  • Participate in L10 meetings and drive quarterly priorities (“Rocks”)

  • Use metrics, scorecards, and structured problem-solving (IDS) to ensure accountability

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related) OR equivalent hands-on experience

  • 3–7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering

  • Direct experience with resistance welding required

  • Strong exposure to:

    • Automated or robotic welding systems (strong plus)

    • Weld controllers, power supplies, fixtures, and tooling

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and process issues

  • Experience improving OEE, throughput, and quality in a production environment

  • Strong Lean / continuous improvement mindset

  • Ability to lead on the floor and influence operators and leadership alike

Nice to Have

  • Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred)

  • Experience in EOS or structured performance-driven environments

Why This Role Stands Out as a Manufacturing Engineer

  • True ownership of the welding process—you are the technical authority

  • High-impact role with direct influence on uptime, quality, and throughput

  • Hands-on leadership—not a desk-only engineering role

  • Opportunity to work with automation and robotics in a real production environment

Our Core Values

We’re building a team that:

  • Is eager to learn

  • Delivers above and beyond

  • Wins as a team

  • Focuses on solutions

  • Embraces change

  • Gets it. Wants it. Has the capacity to do it.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor (majority floor presence)

  • Fast-paced, results-driven production environment

  • Regular exposure to welding equipment, automation systems, and industrial conditions

  • Ability to actively engage on the floor and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs

Apply if you want to own a welding operation, solve real technical problems, and drive measurable manufacturing performance.
