We are seeking an
expert-level SQL Server & PostgreSQL Database Engineer to report to our Greenwood Village location on a hybrid schedule to design, optimize, and support high-performance database solutions in a production environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on SQL professional who thrives on deep query optimization, complex stored procedures, and solving challenging performance issues.
You will partner closely with engineering teams to ensure database architecture supports scalable, reliable applications while maintaining peak performance across MS SQL Server and Postgres platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze, design, and optimize complex T-SQL stored procedures and views to ensure maximum efficiency
- Monitor and improve overall database performance, including indexing strategies and query execution plans
- Collaborate with application and platform engineers to align database design with scalable application needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks and production database issues
- Analyze locking, blocking, and concurrency issues to improve transaction performance
- Document database architecture, performance tuning strategies, and optimization best practices
- Convert existing PostgreSQL functions to Microsoft SQL Server, ensuring accuracy and performance parity
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or newer) and PostgreSQL
- Proven expertise in query tuning, execution plan analysis, and index optimization
- Deep understanding of database internals, including:
- Locking and blocking concepts
- Transactions and isolation levels
- Query execution behavior
- Experience using performance monitoring and diagnostic tools such as:
- SQL Profiler
- Extended Events
- Dynamic Management Views (DMVs)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- This is a W2 only role
- Candidates must already be in Colorado for consideration

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
