Overview
DecisionPoint seeks a Strategic Planner to lead the planning, development, and execution of integrated communications strategies supporting a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role guides communication planning efforts, aligns messaging with mission priorities, and ensures strategies reflect leadership direction and stakeholder needs.
The Strategic Planner collaborates closely with communications, program, policy, and technical partners to build forward-looking communication plans that support enterprise-wide objectives and drive consistent, mission-focused messaging.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Strategic Planner will:
Clearance Requirement
Candidate must possess a Tier 2 Moderate Risk Public Trust (from any federal agency) or an active Secret clearance or higher.
Education (Required)
Bachelor's degree in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Strategy, Public Policy, or a related field.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Strategic Planner will:
- Lead the development of integrated communications strategies aligned with mission and leadership priorities.
- Translate organizational goals and policy themes into actionable communications plans.
- Coordinate cross-functional planning with communications, program, policy, IT, and operational teams.
- Develop strategic frameworks, message architectures, and communication roadmaps.
- Conduct environmental scanning, stakeholder analysis, and communication risk assessments.
- Support development of long-range communication calendars, campaign sequencing, and outreach planning.
- Produce strategic briefs, planning decks, talking points, and executive communications artifacts.
- Ensure alignment and consistency of messaging across digital, print, and stakeholder engagement channels.
- Support metrics analysis and communication performance reporting to inform strategy refinement.
- Facilitate planning sessions, workshops, and strategic communications reviews.
- Identify opportunities for communications modernization, integration, and optimization.
Clearance Requirement

Experience (Required)
- Minimum 7 years of experience supporting strategic communications, communications planning, or public affairs.
- Experience developing integrated communications strategies for federal, DoD, or enterprise organizations.
- Experience aligning messaging with mission, policy, and leadership priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-channel communications planning.
Technical Knowledge (Required)
- Understanding of strategic planning methodologies and narrative alignment.
- Familiarity with communications governance, messaging frameworks, and editorial processes.
- Experience developing strategic content artifacts such as briefs, frameworks, and communication plans.
Technical Knowledge (Preferred)
- Experience with analytics, communication performance measurement, or stakeholder mapping tools.
- Familiarity with digital strategy, UX alignment, or content architecture.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Professional communications or strategic planning certifications
- ITIL v4 or project management certifications
Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities suitable for senior audiences.
- Excellent planning, facilitation, and coordination skills.
- Ability to distill complex priorities into clear communication strategies.
- Strong analytical, synthesis, and strategic thinking capabilities.
