Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Healthcare IT Consultant with strong expertise in Oracle Cerner Millennium, laboratory information systems, and clinical workflow optimization. The ideal candidate will support laboratory operations, EHR/LIS implementations, workflow analysis, testing, go live activities, and project coordination while collaborating with clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders to deliver high quality healthcare solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze, document, and optimize end to end laboratory clinical and business workflows
Support Oracle Cerner Millennium and PathNet design, build validation, and requirements gathering activities
Serve as the liaison between EHR vendors, system integrators, laboratory staff, and business stakeholders
Facilitate workshops, capture requirements, document decisions, and recommend best practice workflows
Plan and execute functional testing, validation, defect triage, regression testing, and go live readiness activities
Support EHR and Laboratory Information System migration and cutover planning
Collaborate with interface teams to troubleshoot HL7 interfaces and laboratory result routing issues
Coordinate data reconciliation, message resubmission, and interface validation activities
Develop workflow documentation, requirements, test evidence, status reports, and decision documentation
Support training development, end user training, and post implementation support
Participate in regulatory compliance initiatives including CAP readiness, SOP reviews, and audit support
Provide Project Management Office (PMO) support including project schedules, issue tracking, risk management, meeting facilitation, and status reporting
Translate business and clinical requirements into functional specifications
Required Skills:
3+ years of Healthcare IT support experience in clinical, operational, or analyst roles
Strong knowledge of laboratory operations and workflows
Hands on experience with Oracle Cerner Millennium
Experience with Cerner PathNet and laboratory workflows
Experience supporting EHR and Laboratory Information System implementations or migrations
Experience with requirements gathering, testing, go live support, and production sustainment
Working knowledge of HL7 interfaces and laboratory result flows
Experience troubleshooting healthcare interfaces and integrations
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience creating workflow maps, requirements documentation, test evidence, status reports, and decision documentation
Experience providing PMO support
Preferred Skills:
Experience supporting federal or large enterprise healthcare modernization programs
Experience working with LabCorp, Quest Diagnostics, or other reference laboratories
Experience with Cerner PowerChart, mPages, PowerForms, and Event Set Hierarchy
Oracle Cerner Millennium certifications
PMP, Agile, or Scrum certifications
Experience supporting CAP inspections, laboratory quality programs, and SOP development
Knowledge of HIPAA and HITECH regulations
Experience with healthcare governance and structured change management
