About the Role
Data Capital Inc. is seeking a Senior Banner HCM Functional Analyst with deep expertise in Ellucian Banner HR and Payroll to support a major cloud ERP transformation at a large R1 public university in Virginia. You will serve as the institutional HCM knowledge bridge — translating Banner HR, Payroll, Benefits, Faculty Employment, and Student Employment processes into the new ERP environment.

What You''''ll Do

Serve as SME for Banner HCM modules — Employee Records, Position Control, Payroll, Benefits, Leave, and Time & Attendance
Document Banner HR business processes, PEAEMPL/PPAIDEN structures, and Self-Service workflows
Advise on faculty employment complexities — tenure-track, adjunct, research faculty classifications, and promotion workflows
Advise on student employment — graduate assistant stipends, work-study pay rules, and hourly student worker configurations
Support data conversion, UAT, payroll parallel testing, and go-live cutover activities

What You Need

5+ years hands-on experience with Ellucian Banner HR/HCM modules (PEAEMPL, PPAIDEN, Payroll, Benefits, Leave)
Experience at a public R1 research university or large higher education institution
Deep understanding of higher education HR — faculty classifications, student employment, graduate assistants, tenure processes
Experience with Banner Payroll processing, tax configuration, and compliance
Knowledge of Virginia state HR and employment regulations for public universities
Experience with Benefits administration in Banner — health, retirement (VRS), and leave management

Nice to Have

Direct experience at a Virginia public university (VT, UVA, VCU, GMU, ODU)
Knowledge of VRS plan structures and reporting requirements
Familiarity with FLSA, FMLA, and ACA reporting in a university environment
Experience supporting Banner-to-cloud HCM migration projects
