Summary

Job Summary

We are seeking PDF Accessibility Remediation Technicians to join a 10-person team supporting a large-scale document accessibility remediation project.

The selected candidates will review and remediate accessibility issues in electronic documents, primarily PDFs, as well as Word documents and PowerPoint presentations. The role involves using specialized PDF remediation tools to identify and correct accessibility issues and ensure documents meet established accessibility standards.

This position is ideal for candidates with strong computer skills, excellent attention to detail, experience working with PDF documents, and the ability to quickly learn and consistently follow technical procedures. Training and ongoing guidance will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Review assigned PDF and electronic documents for accessibility issues.
  • Use Equidox PDF Remediation Software and Adobe Acrobat Pro to identify and correct accessibility issues.
  • Modify document structure and accessibility elements, including:
    • PDF tags
    • Headings
    • Lists
    • Reading order
    • Tables
    • Links
    • Images and alternative text
    • Document properties
  • Run automated accessibility checks and correct identified issues.
  • Perform manual quality checks on remediated documents.
  • Ensure documents follow established accessibility and remediation procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of assigned documents, completed remediation, status, and issues requiring additional review.
  • Manage and organize electronic files according to established naming and document-control procedures.
  • Process a high volume of documents while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
  • Escalate complex accessibility issues that fall outside established procedures.
  • Communicate questions, issues, and project progress to the project supervisor.
  • Incorporate feedback from quality reviews and supervisors into future work.
  • Protect confidential and sensitive information contained within documents.
  • Perform other related document remediation and project-support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Local to the Atlanta, GA area.
  • Experience with PDF accessibility or document remediation.
  • Experience using Equidox PDF Remediation Software.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro or similar professional PDF editing software.
  • Understanding of PDF accessibility concepts, including tagging and document structure.
  • Ability to identify and correct accessibility issues involving headings, reading order, lists, tables, links, and images.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and step-by-step technical instructions.
  • Ability to learn new software applications and technical processes quickly.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple documents and assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented work consistently.
  • Ability to work independently after receiving training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of WCAG or PDF/UA standards.
  • Experience with digital accessibility testing.
  • Experience with screen readers or assistive technologies.
  • Experience with document QA or accessibility QA.
  • Experience in document processing, records management, data entry, or other high-volume production environments.
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools such as PAC, CommonLook, or similar tools.

Remote Work Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • Their own computer/equipment suitable for remote work.
  • Reliable high-speed internet access.
  • A suitable remote work environment.
  • Ability to remotely access required systems through WebLink.
