Mainframe Tester(Only W2)

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Tester with strong hands-on experience in testing mainframe applications, batch processes, and data. The ideal candidate should have solid knowledge of COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, and experience with functional, regression, integration, and system testing in a mainframe environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements and prepare detailed test scenarios and test cases.
• Perform functional, system, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing of mainframe applications.
• Validate COBOL programs, JCL jobs, batch processing, and online transactions.
• Execute and validate batch jobs using JCL and analyze job logs, spool output, and abends.
• Validate data in DB2, VSAM, and other mainframe databases/files.
• Perform backend/data validation by executing SQL queries against DB2.
• Validate file processing, record layouts, interfaces, and downstream/upstream integrations.
• Perform defect identification, logging, tracking, and retesting using tools such as Jira or ALM.
• Analyze production issues and assist development teams with root-cause analysis.
• Participate in test planning, test execution, defect triage, and release validation.
• Coordinate with developers, business analysts, and other QA teams throughout the SDLC.
• Prepare test execution reports and communicate testing status, risks, and defects.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in Mainframe Testing / QA.
• Strong understanding of COBOL and JCL.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 and SQL.
• Experience testing CICS applications.
• Good knowledge of VSAM files and sequential files.
• Experience with batch processing and job scheduling.
• Strong understanding of mainframe data validation and file processing.
• Experience with defect management tools such as Jira, ALM, or Quality Center.
• Good understanding of STLC, SDLC, test methodologies, and defect life cycle.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
