Job Description
We''re looking for a seasoned Cohesity Infrastructure Engineer to step into a critical, hands-on contract role supporting a 4-cluster Cohesity environment through a full production-to-test migration cycle. This is not a generalist backup role β it requires deep, verified expertise across Cohesity''s product suite including DataProtect, SmartFiles, and FortKnox, and the confidence to own the technical execution from day one.
You''ll be the primary engineer driving the cluster role transition β moving current production clusters into test environments while standing up new production capacity on All-Flash architecture. Working alongside storage, virtualization, and security teams, your work directly protects the organization''s data resilience posture and backup SLAs during a high-stakes infrastructure refresh.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and administer 4 Cohesity clusters (All-Flash architecture) β 2 production, 2 test β including the transition of current production clusters into test environments
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Cohesity DataProtect for enterprise backup and recovery operations
- Implement and manage Cohesity SmartFiles for unstructured data management and tiering
- Administer Cohesity FortKnox (self-managed) for cyber-resilient data vaulting and ransomware protection
- Support backup operations across VMware virtual infrastructure, physical servers, and agent-based workloads
- Manage integration with Cristie recovery and migration tooling
- Plan and execute cluster role transitions with minimal disruption to backup SLAs
- Document runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures for the refreshed environment
- Collaborate with storage, virtualization, and security teams to ensure backup policies meet organizational requirements
- Provide capacity planning recommendations and performance tuning across all clusters
Required Experience/Skills
- 5+ years of enterprise data protection / backup infrastructure experience
- 3+ years of hands-on Cohesity platform experience β non-negotiable
- Direct, proven experience with Cohesity DataProtect, SmartFiles, and FortKnox
- Strong understanding of All-Flash Cohesity cluster architecture, deployment, and management
- Experience with VMware backup integration (VADP, SAN transport, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with physical server and agent-based backup configurations
- Familiarity with Cristie recovery tooling
- Experience planning and executing cluster migrations or role transitions in production environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, storage, and backup application layers

- Cohesity Certified Administrator or Engineer certification
- Experience in financial services or similarly regulated industries
- Familiarity with ransomware resilience strategies and immutable backup architectures
