Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Integration Architect to join an enterprise-wide integration function. In this role, you will be responsible for translating high-level solution architecture into detailed, implementation-ready integration designs for delivery teams. This position is central to the organization's ongoing transition from a service-oriented architecture (SOA) to a microservices and event-driven model, requiring a strong emphasis on design rationale and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate high-level solution architecture into detailed integration designs, including APIs, services, and orchestration flows.
- Develop API specifications using OpenAPI 3.0 and apply RESTful design principles.
- Evaluate trade-offs and ensure the long-term sustainability of integration solutions.
- Provide feedback to influence architectural decisions made by Solution Architects.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise standards, including API-first development, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and canonical models.
- Produce clear, consumable artifacts to support implementation by delivery teams.
- Serve as a design authority across integration domains and collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Core Concepts:- Deep understanding of API design, REST principles, Microservices architecture, and SOA.
- Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), canonical data modeling, and API-first development using OpenAPI 3.0.
- Familiarity with event-driven and loosely coupled architectures.
- Demonstrated design thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate design intent, trade-offs, and architectural decisions.
Tools & Technologies:- Experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) as a primary orchestration platform.
- Knowledge of Spring Boot for building and coordinating integration services.
- Experience with API management platforms such as IBM APIC, Kong, or Apigee.
- Understanding of containerization and deployment via OpenShift.
- Knowledge of messaging tools such as Kafka.
- Experience with rules engines like IBM ODM.
- Experience in multi-cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure).
- Understanding of API Security and OAuth 2.0.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with API modeling tools such as Rational Software Architect (RSA).
- Experience in the healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with hybrid or poly-cloud environments (on-premise and cloud integrations).
- Exposure to API proxy patterns and enterprise API governance.
- Understanding of legacy or mainframe integrations (z/OS).
- Ability to write and understand code (e.g., Java, ESQL).
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Rate Range: $70.00/hr - $85.00/hr
