Role Overview
A national retail and supply-chain organization is seeking a hands-on IT Solutions Architect with a strong enterprise view to drive solutioning across critical retail and inventory initiatives. This role owns the technical engagement and drives project outcomes by translating business needs into scalable architectures, particularly within integration-heavy ecosystems. The position requires a problem-solver who can assess the current state, define functional and non-functional requirements, create High-Level Design (HLD) documentation, and guide solutions through governance and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end solution architecture for multiple projects concurrently.
- Lead current-state assessment and define future-state architecture, even with limited documentation.
- Partner with project managers, business analysts, engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure solution designs meet business and technical standards.
- Capture and validate functional and non-functional requirements, with an emphasis on reliability, scalability, performance, disaster recovery, and security.
- Produce architecture documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLD) and diagrams, for delivery teams.
- Present solutions and tradeoffs to an Architecture Review Board and drive approvals.
- Architect cloud-based and hybrid solutions with complex internal and external integrations.
- Define and optimize integration patterns (API, event, messaging) to reduce overhead.
- Contribute to the development of a community of Solution Architects by sharing best practices and reusable patterns.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 6-10+ years in Solution Architecture, Application Architecture, or Integration Architecture. Demonstrated experience designing solutions across enterprise ecosystems is required.
Technical Skills: Proven ability to create and communicate High-Level Designs, integration diagrams, and architecture recommendations. Experience driving solutions through technical governance boards is necessary. Must be able to operate in legacy environments with limited documentation to produce actionable designs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud experience with AWS.
- Integration experience with MuleSoft.
- Knowledge of messaging and streaming technologies such as IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, or Kafka.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP, and integration strategies.
- Knowledge of Databricks.
- Understanding of secure API design, 12-factor architecture, and modernization roadmaps.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Systems Analysis, or a related field is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a remote role, with the option to work from an office. Minor travel may be required for key meetings.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $80.00/hr to $90.00/hr on a W-2 basis. This employer offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
