### Job Summary Thinking Minds' client is seeking an AI Engineer with a data science focus to transform insurance submission, policy, and loss data into actionable underwriting insights. The role combines analytical work with application development and infrastructure contributions. Working directly with underwriters and operations colleagues, you will adapt existing tools, build tailored solutions, and improve workflows while maintaining attention to security and compliance. Senior AI engineers provide technical review and mentorship as you develop practical solutions for business users.

### Ideal Candidate Should Have
Strong curiosity about business processes and the patience to learn insurance concepts from experienced practitioners.

Confidence working with messy, real-world data and translating findings into understandable recommendations.

A hands-on approach to building useful applications, testing assumptions, and improving solutions through feedback.

Clear communication skills and comfort collaborating with non-technical colleagues.

### Key Responsibilities
Analyze submission, policy, and loss datasets to uncover insights that support underwriting decisions and risk analysis.

Adapt existing AI applications to user needs and develop new capabilities when current solutions do not fit.

Contribute to submission ingestion, underwriting workbenches, and automation across back-office and middle-office workflows.

Use Python and SQL to prepare, investigate, and model business data.

Participate in application development and infrastructure work, incorporating feedback from senior engineers.

Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and maintain appropriate security and compliance standards.

### Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.

Strong Python and SQL skills, comfort handling imperfect datasets, and a grounding in statistics.

Demonstrable, independently built work in structured extraction or document processing, a RAG or document Q&A system, evaluation or testing of model or LLM output, or analysis and modeling using a real dataset.

Ability to explain technical decisions and analytical results clearly to non-technical audiences.

### Preferred Qualifications
Relevant internship or co-op experience involving applied AI, analytics, or software development.

Familiarity with insurance data or an interest in learning underwriting workflows.

Experience connecting analytical insights with practical applications and evaluating solution quality.

Thinking Minds' client offers employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, a retirement plan with immediate vesting and company matching, paid time off and holidays, supplemental insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending accounts, tuition and fitness reimbursement, and technical mentorship.
