Report Developer - SAS / Crystal Reports
We are looking for an experienced Report Developer to support our existing enterprise reporting environment. This role will be primarily focused on SAS and Crystal Reports development and support, so candidates should have meaningful hands-on development experience with both technologies. The position requires someone who is comfortable taking ownership of complex reporting assignments, troubleshooting existing solutions, working with imperfect or incomplete documentation, and partnering with business stakeholders to clarify requirements. Strong SQL and analytical skills are essential.
Required Skills
SQL
- Strong SQL development and troubleshooting skills
- Experience writing and understanding complex queries, including joins, aggregations, subqueries, conditional logic, and data transformations
- Ability to analyze existing SQL and reporting logic and determine how data and calculations are being derived
- Comfortable working across data sources with differing schemas and structures
SAS
- Strong hands-on SAS development experience
- Experience with SAS Enterprise Guide
- Experience developing and maintaining complex reports and reporting solutions
- Experience with SAS ODS
- Experience with the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Excel
- Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and enhance existing SAS programs developed by others
Crystal Reports
- Strong hands-on Crystal Reports development experience
- Experience developing and maintaining complex tabular reports
- Experience with formulas, grouping, calculations, conditional logic, and complex formatting
- Experience developing pixel-perfect reports, documents, and letters
- Experience with Crystal Publications or similar scheduled/distributed reporting processes
- Ability to troubleshoot and enhance existing Crystal reporting solutions
Reporting & Analytical Skills
- Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to reverse-engineer existing SAS programs, Crystal Reports, SQL queries, and reporting logic where documentation may be limited
- Comfortable working with data that may not be clearly or completely documented
- Ability to translate existing reporting and business logic between systems with different underlying data structures
- Experience performing data validation and reconciliation to ensure reporting accuracy
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues involving data, SQL, reporting logic, scheduling, or report output
- Strong attention to detail and ability to independently validate results
Healthcare Experience
Health insurance reporting experience, particularly:
- Claims data
- Member and enrollment/eligibility data
- Employer group reporting
- Familiarity with health insurance concepts and metrics such as PMPM and per-1,000 utilization rates

- Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
- Comfortable working from incomplete or ambiguous requirements
- Able to work directly with stakeholders to clarify requirements and help define appropriate reporting solutions
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including responding to time-sensitive production issues
- Demonstrates ownership of assignments from requirements and development through testing and production support

Power BI experience would be a significant plus for this role. Relevant experience could include:
- Power BI Desktop
- Power Query
- DAX
- Data modeling
- Power BI Service
- Experience converting or recreating legacy SAS or Crystal reporting solutions in Power BI
