Senior QA Automation Engineer – Playwright

About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced QA Automation Engineer with deep expertise in Playwright to lead test automation strategy for Marriott''''s enterprise hospitality platforms. This is a senior individual-contributor role requiring strong hands-on automation skills combined with the ability to mentor teams, define frameworks, and drive quality engineering best practices across large-scale web applications. Key Responsibilities • Design, build, and maintain robust end-to-end test automation frameworks using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript or Java/Python bindings). • Own the overall test automation strategy — framework architecture, tooling, and best practices — for cross-browser, cross-platform web application testing. • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.) for continuous testing and fast feedback. • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to translate requirements into comprehensive test plans and automated test cases. • Perform functional, regression, cross-browser, API, and performance testing as part of the overall QA strategy. • Analyze test results, triage defects, and work with development teams to drive timely resolution. • Mentor junior/mid-level QA engineers on automation best practices and Playwright framework usage. • Drive test coverage metrics, quality dashboards, and reporting to stakeholders and leadership. • Evaluate and recommend AI-assisted testing tools to improve automation efficiency where applicable. Required Skills • Automation: 12+ years in QA/test automation, with strong hands-on expertise in Playwright (minimum 3-4 years with Playwright specifically) • Languages: TypeScript/JavaScript (primary); Java or Python experience a plus • API Testing: REST Assured, Postman, or Playwright API testing capabilities • CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar • Version Control: Git/GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket • Test Management: JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr, or similar tools • Frameworks: Experience designing Page Object Model (POM) and data-driven/keyworddriven frameworks • Databases: SQL for backend/data validation • Cross-browser & Cross-platform Testing: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, WebKit; responsive/mobile web testing Nice to Have • Prior experience with Selenium/Cypress and migration experience to Playwright • Experience in the travel/hospitality domain • Exposure to performance testing tools (JMeter, k6) • Familiarity with AI-assisted testing/copilot tools (Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot, etc.) • Cloud testing platforms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, LambdaTest) • Docker/Kubernetes exposure for containerized test execution Soft Skills • Proven leadership in driving QA strategy and mentoring teams • Strong stakeholder communication and reporting skills • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments • Ability to work independently and drive quality initiatives with minimal oversight
