Location: Bridgeton, MO (Hybrid)
Schedule: Hybrid Schedule, Minimum 2 Days Onsite (Tuesday & Wednesday)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Developer to design, develop, optimize, and support enterprise Microsoft SQL Server database solutions across both development and production environments. This role will play a critical part in ensuring database reliability, scalability, security, and performance while supporting business-critical applications and reporting needs.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in SQL Server development, database performance tuning, transactional SQL, and application integration. This individual must be a self-starter who can work independently, collaborate effectively with application development teams, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members when needed.

This position is based in the St. Louis metro area and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring onsite attendance at the Bridgeton office a minimum of two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Database Development & Architecture
  • Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and high-performing SQL Server database solutions.
  • Create and maintain database schemas, data models, tables, relationships, and structures that support business applications and reporting requirements.
  • Develop, test, and maintain stored procedures, triggers, functions, views, and complex SQL queries.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reliability across multiple databases and environments.
Database Performance & Optimization
  • Monitor database performance and proactively identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and performance issues.
  • Tune SQL code, indexes, stored procedures, and database structures to optimize performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related production issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage and support multiple SQL Server databases across large-scale enterprise systems.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain database security controls, including user access, permissions, auditing, and encryption.
  • Ensure database environments adhere to security best practices and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Protect sensitive business and customer data through proper governance and security controls.
Application Integration & Data Management
  • Collaborate with software developers and business stakeholders to support application development initiatives.
  • Design and implement data integration processes and ETL solutions.
  • Support .NET and legacy applications that interact with SQL Server databases.
  • Assist with deployment, migration, and enhancement efforts across development and production environments.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and database team members.
  • Contribute to database standards, best practices, and documentation efforts.
  • Participate in project planning, architecture discussions, and technical reviews.
  • Support additional database and application initiatives as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience developing SQL-based applications in Windows and/or web environments.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server database development and administration.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level databases in production environments.
  • Experience working closely with software development teams and business stakeholders.
