Job summary
The SAP PS Costing Consultant is a key functional expert responsible for designing, configuring, and supporting
the financial and controlling aspects of the SAP Project System module. This role ensures projects are effectively
planned, budgeted, and monitored for costs and revenue, helping to achieve business goals and financial targets.
Key responsibilities
• System configuration: Customize and configure the SAP PS module, focusing on costing-specific functions.
• This includes setting up project profiles, project versions, cost elements, and planning profiles.
• Cost planning and budgeting: Implement and manage various cost planning methods within SAP PS, such as
• Easy Cost Planning (ECP), unit costing, and detailed network costing. Define and manage project budgets, including allocation and availability control.
• Cost and revenue tracking: Ensure accurate tracking of actual costs against planned budgets throughout the project lifecycle. This involves integrating with other modules to capture costs from purchase orders (MM), timesheets (CATS), and invoices (FI).
• Integration with FI/CO: Establish and maintain robust integration points with the Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) modules. This is crucial for seamless cost allocation, expense tracking, and settlement.
• Settlement management: Configure and manage project settlement rules, including the process of settling costs to assets under construction (AUC), fixed assets, cost centers, or other controlling objects.
• Reporting and analysis: Develop and manage standard and custom reports to monitor project performance, cost variance, and profitability. Perform variance analysis to identify and address deviations from the plan.
• Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with project managers, business analysts, and finance teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and provide expert guidance on best practices for project costing.
• Training and support: Conduct end-user training and create comprehensive documentation. Provide ongoing
support for troubleshooting and resolving SAP PS costing issues.
• Process improvement: Analyze current business processes and recommend SAP PS functionality and best
practices to improve efficiency and financial control.
Qualifications and skills
• Educational background: Bachelor''s degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Business
Administration, Finance, or Engineering.
• SAP experience:
o Extensive experience as an SAP PS Functional Consultant, with a strong focus on the financial and controlling aspects of the module.
o Proven experience in end-to-end SAP PS implementations, including blueprinting, configuration, testing, and go-live support.
• Technic al skills:
o Project structure: Expert knowledge of Project Structures (WBS), Networks, and Milestones.
o Cost planning methods: Proficiency with SAP''s various cost planning methods, including manual planning, Easy Cost Planning (ECP), and network costing.
o Integration: Deep understanding of the integration points between PS, FI, CO, MM, and SD.
o Budgeting and availability control: Strong skills in budget management and configuration of availability control.
•Certifications: SAP PS certification is highly valued.
•Professional skills:
o Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
o Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
o Experience with S/4HANA is often preferred for modern roles.
