Staff Tech is seeking an experienced Data Product Manager for a long-term consulting opportunity in the St. Paul, Minnesota area. This position will lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of enterprise data initiatives, helping transform complex organizational data into scalable, trusted, and high-value data products.

 

The ideal candidate combines strong product leadership with a solid understanding of modern data platforms, data engineering, analytics, and governance. This role will work closely with technical and business teams to modernize legacy data environments and develop reusable data products, including curated datasets, analytics platforms, data pipelines, and supporting infrastructure.

 

This position is onsite in the St. Paul, MN area. Candidates should be local or within a reasonable commuting distance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for enterprise data products and platforms.
  • Identify high-value data opportunities by evaluating business needs, existing data environments, technical challenges, and organizational priorities.
  • Lead the full data product lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, adoption, monitoring, iteration, and retirement.
  • Partner with data engineers, data scientists, architects, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to develop scalable data solutions.
  • Support modernization initiatives involving data lakes, data curation platforms, and the transition from legacy data environments.
  • Translate business requirements and business logic into data transformations, metadata requirements, domain-specific rules, and technical product requirements.
  • Ensure data products meet expectations for quality, governance, lineage, documentation, reliability, scalability, and usability.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams, business stakeholders, leadership, and other interested parties.
  • Prioritize product requirements and incoming requests while balancing competing organizational needs.
  • Establish success metrics and evaluate data product performance, adoption, and business value.
  • Partner with analytics teams on dashboards, KPIs, reporting frameworks, and actionable insights.
  • Support organizational data governance, privacy, compliance, and responsible data-use practices.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and help mature enterprise data practices and capabilities.

 

Qualifications

  • Approximately 4–7 years of experience in data management, data analytics, data engineering, data product management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated product leadership experience with the ability to lead initiatives in complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern data systems, including data pipelines, ETL, data warehousing, data lakes, data modeling, metadata, and data governance.
  • Experience collaborating with data architecture, data engineering, data science, analytics, and business teams.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused language.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, product management, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience with SQL and enterprise data platforms.
  • Significant experience with Databricks.
  • Experience implementing or supporting modern data architectures.
  • Experience with analytics and reporting technologies such as dbt, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, and/or Google Analytics.
  • Understanding of enterprise data-sharing requirements, constraints, and data-sharing agreements.
  • Familiarity with Java and Python.
  • Experience building internal platforms, enterprise data products, or developer-facing products.
  • Experience working with data governance, privacy, regulatory, or compliance requirements.
  • Experience performing statistical analysis and reporting within a highly regulated environment is desirable.

 

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience leading large-scale data modernization initiatives, particularly migrations from legacy environments to modern cloud-based data platforms, will be strongly considered. Experience coordinating across technical, analytical, policy, and business teams is highly desirable.

 

This is a full-time, onsite consulting opportunity in the St. Paul, Minnesota area with an anticipated engagement extending through August 2027, with the potential for extension.
