Summary

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Workday Adaptive Planning Engineer for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Regulatory clients. This position is fully remote.
Seeking a Workday Adaptive Planning Engineer to design, build, and maintain financial planning and forecasting solutions on Workday Adaptive Planning. This role partners closely with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Accounting, and the broader Finance Systems team to translate planning and budgeting requirements into scalable, well-governed Adaptive Planning models. The engineer owns the technical health of the Adaptive Planning environment, including model design, data integrations with Workday Financials, and the accuracy and timeliness of planning data used across the organization.

Responsibilities :
  • Design, configure, and maintain Workday Adaptive Planning models, sheets, and dimensions to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
  • Build and maintain the data flow between Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning, ensuring actuals load accurately and on a reliable schedule.
  • Develop and optimize formulas, calculated accounts, allocations, and modeled sheets while keeping models performant and maintainable.
  • Own the accuracy, refresh cadence, and reconciliation of planning data; proactively identify and resolve data discrepancies between source systems and Adaptive.
  • Partner with FP&A to translate planning requirements into model design, presenting options and tradeoffs rather than one-off fixes.
  • Configure and maintain security, user access, and workflow within Adaptive Planning.
  • Assess and test the impact of Workday and Adaptive semi-annual releases; maintain a regression testing approach for planning models and integrations.
  • Build dashboards and reports that give finance stakeholders visibility into plan vs. actuals and forecast accuracy.
  • Document model design, data flows, and configuration to support team continuity and knowledge transfer.
  • Provide production support for planning cycles, including month-end and budget-season peak periods.
  • Demonstration of the firm's values.
  • Collaboration, both in-person and virtually, in furtherance of the firm's mission of investor protection and market integrity.
Required Skills :
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Workday Adaptive Planning (model design, sheets, dimensions, formulas, and allocations).
  • Solid understanding of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Experience integrating Adaptive Planning with Workday Financials or other systems, including loading and reconciling actuals.
  • Working knowledge of the Workday Financials data model (ledger accounts, worktags, company/cost center structures) and how it maps into planning models.
  • Experience with Office Connect and Adaptive Matrix reporting/dashboarding.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to trace data issues to root cause across systems.
  • Ability to translate finance stakeholder requirements into technical solutions and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
  • Experience supporting planning models through peak cycles (budget season, forecast refreshes, month-end).
Preferred Skills :
  • Workday Adaptive Planning Pro Certification and/or equivalent Workday Finance experience (specifically in FDM and Projects)
  • Experience with Adaptive CCL (Custom Cloud Loader).
  • Experience with Workday integrations (EIBs, Core Connectors) supporting planning data.
  • Prior experience in a regulated or financial-services environment.
  • Exposure to data governance and controls for financial planning data.
  • Experience with Workday Studio or Workday Extend.
