Agile Product Owner - Contract To Hire (9-month) Remote (must be located and authorized to work in the United States); occasional travel and/or in-office presence may be required

Position Summary We are seeking an Agile Product Owner for our client, a leading international travel organization, in a remote role open to candidates located and authorized to work in the United States. In this position, you will serve as the "voice of the customer," translating a high-level product vision into an actionable, well-prioritized backlog that drives high-quality, business-relevant features. Working within Scrum teams, you will maximize value delivery across each Program Increment by defining user stories, setting priorities, and ensuring solutions evolve to meet changing business needs. You will collaborate closely with sponsors, business leaders, end users, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver incremental value through frequent releases. This contract-to-hire opportunity targets conversion within nine months and offers strong growth potential along with a generous benefits package, including travel benefits and retirement.
Key Responsibilities - Own product delivery, including regular enhancements and major new capabilities, maximizing value within each Program Increment (PI).
- Engage with sponsors, business leaders, and end users to translate high-level product vision and business requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Own and refine the product backlog, ensuring well-defined, prioritized user stories that are ready for development.
- Maintain the enhancement request process, capability roadmaps, and deployment schedules.
- Communicate priorities, trade-offs, and progress to stakeholders across technical and business domains.
- Accept or reject completed stories based on acceptance criteria and quality standards.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, providing clarifications and accepting or rejecting deliverables.
- Make day-to-day decisions on feature scope, priorities, and trade-offs during the development cycle.
- Focus on delivering incremental value through frequent releases, ensuring alignment with strategic direction.
- Coordinate with training and business leaders to support successful rollouts and adoption.
Required Qualifications - 3+ years working as a Product Owner in Agile environments.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (engineering, QA, UX, DevOps).
- Deep understanding of user-centric design.
- Strong business analysis and process mapping capabilities, with the ability to balance strategic vision and detailed execution.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and business domains.
- Proficiency in product management frameworks, Agile methodologies, and Scrum practices.
- Experience with solution packaging and deployment (managed/unmanaged solutions), ALM tools (e.g., Azure DevOps), and release management and rollback strategies.
- Product Owner Certification.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; or three to five years' related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) - SAFe Product Owner Certification.
- Experience with the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC).
- Experience with OutSystems.
- Familiarity with MS 365, including MS Dynamics and Copilot.
- Experience with ServiceNow.
- Experience with Azure DevOps.
