Role: Technical Specialist (Cloud POS & Payments Integration)

Role Overview
The Technical Specialist is a senior-level professional with deep expertise in specific technologies, responsible for designing, supporting, and optimizing complex enterprise applications. This role combines strong application development knowledge with advanced technical specialization, particularly in cloud-hosted POS systems and payment integrations.
The specialist will act as a subject matter expert (SME), driving best practices, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and supporting large-scale implementations across distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Provide design and technical support for industry-specific applications integrated with enterprise and statewide systems.
- Identify and implement best practices, standards, and improvements to enhance product quality and system performance.
- Serve as a niche SME for technical domains including POS systems, payment processing, and cloud architecture.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, infrastructure, and database teams.
Cloud POS Implementation & Integration
- Integrate payment processing, inventory management, and customer-facing tools into a unified cloud platform.
- Support implementation and deployment of cloud-hosted POS solutions.
- Assist in system configuration, environment setup, and integration testing.
- Validate data flows, payment processing, and synchronization processes.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors on technical requirements, issue resolution, and deliverables.
- Interact with executive-level stakeholders and technical experts to communicate solutions effectively.
Deployment & Support
- Support field-office rollout activities, testing cycles, and issue resolution.
- Provide production support including troubleshooting, defect resolution, and performance tuning.
- Document system configurations, technical decisions, and updates.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor s degree (BS/BA) or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience
- 7+ years of IT experience in distributed web services and enterprise software environments.
- 4+ years of cloud experience with platforms such as Azure and AWS.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience in card payment systems and retail POS solutions
- Expertise in:
- EMV, P2PE, and encryption technologies
- Systems Integration, SOA, and Web Services
- XML and JSON data formats
- Windows Server environments
- .NET applications (web and thick client)
- Experience integrating .NET applications with mainframe systems
- Knowledge of:
- Aurora Database
- Reverse Proxy, Load Balancing, URL Rewrite
- Strong understanding of:
- Secure data synchronization
- Performance optimization
- Scalable architecture design
