Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Department Manager to join our Governmental/Municipal team in Raleigh, NC! We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic leader who can help us build our Governmental/Municipal business in this region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, strategic/managerial direction, and guidance to achieve established financial and growth goals for the discipline.
  • Responsible for overall productivity, profitability, client satisfaction, and quality of work.
  • Develop, execute, and lead discipline marketing and business development strategies in collaboration with the marketing and business development teams.
  • Work with leadership to build a production team.
  • Evaluate and monitor budgets, billing, and collections.
  • Consistently monitors the backlog of work and the sharing of resources within the discipline, maximizing staff utilization. Reviews staff utilization regularly and promptly addresses staff not meeting utilization goals.
  • Responsible for fostering staff professional development, monitoring staffing/recruiting activity, and effectively managing employee relations.
  • Comply with and ensure others' compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Serve as project manager while being a resource for staff on assigned projects and manage completion of projects regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget.
  • Provide staff with technical assistance and supervision in the preparation of proposals and contracts for assigned projects.
  • Prepare pertinent information for client/agency meetings and attend, as needed.
  • Develop the skills and abilities of staff which are necessary for successful execution of work duties.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach staff.
  • Manage the performance of assigned staff, conduct performance evaluations, and provide input for promotions and staff advancement.
  • Collaborate with other firms in pursuit of opportunities and manage subconsultant contracts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) license required.
  • 8+ years of experience in civil/municipal engineering with concentration on public infrastructure design.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
  • Ability to manage clients and develop new business.
  • Excellent communication skills.
