Job Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Richmond, VA
Overview
We are seeking a Field Service Technician to support technology upgrades and infrastructure projects in mission-critical environments. This role is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in networking or telecommunications, with hands-on exposure to system installations, hardware deployments, and live operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of network-connected systems and communication equipment
  • Support system cutovers in live environments while minimizing operational disruption
  • Perform basic network connectivity tasks including patching, link verification, and troubleshooting
  • Support structured cabling tasks such as patching, cable management, and basic terminations
  • Install and mount hardware including monitors, peripherals, and workstation components
  • Assist with deploying and replacing workstation equipment
  • Test, validate, and confirm system functionality after installation
  • Document work performed and escalate issues to senior team members as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Communicate professionally with customers and team members

Required Qualifications
  • Foundational understanding of IT, networking, or telecommunications concepts
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals, and network connectivity (IP, Ethernet, switching)
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a hands-on role
  • Comfortable performing physical work including equipment installation and material handling
  • Familiarity with RF equipment or systems, or an educational background in Electronic Engineering Technology (EET)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Entry-level IT certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+
  • Technical degree, coursework, or vocational training in IT, telecommunications, or a related field
  • Exposure to network equipment such as routers and switches
  • Experience supporting hardware installation or deployment projects
  • Experience working in active or customer-facing environments
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glen Allen, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
