Location: Ambler, PA Salary: $100,000.00 USD Annually - $175,000.00 USD Annually Description:
Position Overview The Senior Field Technician acts as the primary technical lead in the field, guiding crews through complex electrical testing, maintenance, and commissioning projects. This role bridges hands-on high-voltage technical expertise with crew leadership, project management, and customer interface.

Safety & Crew Leadership
  • Lead daily site safety briefings, enforce company PPE policies, and actively identify, eliminate, or mitigate job site hazards.
  • Champion a zero-incident culture through incident reviews, lessons learned, and the application of Human Performance Error Reduction (HPE) principles.
  • Direct daily field crew operations, ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and schedule expectations.

Technical Execution & Troubleshooting
  • Lead the testing, inspection, maintenance, and commissioning of high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical substation equipment.
  • Install and maintain circuit breakers (SF6, vacuum, LV), transformers (GSU and pad-mounted), instrument transformers, switchgear, grounding, and battery systems.
  • Perform complex root-cause troubleshooting on electrical and control systems using engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Analyze complex test data against electrical theory to evaluate asset performance, identify deficiencies, and execute repair or replacement plans.

Project Management & Reporting
  • Develop custom testing plans, procedures, and work scopes for complex commissioning and maintenance projects.
  • Author, review, and approve detailed technical test reports, discrepancy logs, and final client closure packages.
  • Coordinate field logistics, schedules, and work sequencing to ensure seamless project execution.

Mentorship & Client Relations
  • Train, mentor, and qualify Field Technician levels I, II, and III on technical standards and safe work practices.
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact for clients, engineers, and project managers.
