Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Reno, NV or Fremont, CA (Onsite)
Duration: 4-Month Contract + Possible Extension / Contract-to-Hire (No Conversion Fee)

Position Overview
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop and deploy advanced manufacturing equipment within its cutting-edge battery manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on solving key challenges in electric vehicle battery production including battery architecture innovation, reliability, and cost efficiency.
This is a fast-paced role where the engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement high-volume automated manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities

Establish equipment requirements and develop manufacturing equipment design concepts.

Develop and deploy new manufacturing equipment for high-volume production environments.

Create technical specifications and manage the RFQ process for new equipment.

Lead project scope from concept through production launch.

Oversee detailed design and development of automated manufacturing equipment.

Develop and execute equipment validation plans.
-
Coordinate factory readiness, equipment installation, and commissioning.

Act as Lead Manufacturing Engineer or Project Manager on automation projects.

Transition products from low-volume prototype builds to large-scale production.

Support multiple equipment installations and product launches.

Travel internationally when required (travel expected but not 50% as noted in the JD).
Required Qualifications
-
3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.

Strong mechanical design and layout development experience using CAD.

Knowledge of tolerancing and GD&T.

Experience with manufacturing equipment safety systems.

Hands-on experience with new equipment installations and manufacturing line implementations.

Experience transitioning prototype products to mass production.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
