Job Description:
Ø Lead and execute migration of SQL Server databases from on‐premises data center to AWS EC2.
Ø Assess existing SQL Server environments and define migration, upgrade and optimization strategies.
Ø Perform SQL Server provisioning, configuration and tuning on AWS infrastructure.
Ø Ensure database security, access controls, encryption, backup and recovery policies are implemented.
Ø Coordinate with application, infrastructure and cloud teams to ensure smooth cutover and minimal downtime.
Ø Support testing, validation and performance benchmarking post‐migration.
Ø Troubleshoot database issues during migration and steady‐state operations.
Ø Document database architectures, configurations and operational procedures.
Ø Cloud Experience Needed
Ø 7+ years of database administration experience with at least 2–3 years exposure to AWS.
Ø Hands‐on experience running SQL Server on AWS EC2, including storage and networking considerations.
Ø Understanding of AWS services such as EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch and VPC.
Ø Experience supporting hybrid environments during transition from on‐prem to cloud.
Ø Familiarity with automation, scripting or Infrastructure as Code is an advantage.
Ø Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD pipelines impacting database deployments is preferred.
Ø Experience working in large, mission‐critical enterprise migration programs.
Ø AWS or Microsoft SQL Server certifications are desirable.
Ø Strong hands‐on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments.
Ø Proven expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, patching, upgrades and performance tuning.
Ø Solid understanding of SQL Server HA/DR solutions including Always On, Failover Clustering and Backup/Restore.
Ø Experience working on Data Center Exit or on‐premises to cloud migration programs.
Ø Good understanding of Windows Server platforms (2016/2019/2022/2025) hosting SQL Server workloads.
Ø Working knowledge of AWS infrastructure concepts related to database hosting on EC2.
Ø Ability to collaborate with application teams supporting Java and .NET workloads.
Ø Understanding of integration dependencies involving middleware such as TIBCO ESB.
