Job Title: Field Support Technician

Our client is a specialized manufacturer of electronic components for the elevator industry, focusing on high-quality production and seamless hardware integration. They are a prominent player in their niche, providing the critical technical infrastructure that powers complex urban elevator systems across North America.

This is an independent, field-based role where you will serve as the primary technical presence in New York City. Working closely with a local sales representative and the corporate R&D team, you will be responsible for the on-site diagnosis and resolution of hardware, software, and networking issues. The role is designed for a self-starter who enjoys being out in the field and taking full ownership of technical challenges at customer sites.

Requirements
  • Electrical Background: A basic electrical background is a firm requirement for this position.
  • Field Experience: Previous on-site experience providing technical or field support.
  • Networking Knowledge: A fundamental understanding of IP networking (static IPs, subnets, DHCP).
  • Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Mobility: A valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and residency within the five boroughs of New York City. Traveling via subway works as well, and you will be compensated for travel expenses.


Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site technical support to resolve hardware, software, and electronics issues at client locations.
  • Conduct site surveys for medium to large-scale projects to verify installation requirements.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and networking problems, including routers and switches.
  • Perform hardware replacements, including board swaps, module replacements, and firmware updates.
  • Collaborate with the New York sales representative and internal R&D teams to provide detailed field reporting.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with site mechanics and installers to ensure efficient issue resolution.


The company provides an extensive 4-6 week training program at their production plant in Canada to ensure you are fully equipped for the role. During this period, the client covers all travel and hotel expenses and will put you through the EDMT certification. The position offers a high degree of autonomy, as you will work independently without being tied to an office. The interview process is personal and direct, starting with a virtual introduction followed by a trip to the corporate headquarters to meet the leadership team.
