About the Role
We are seeking a Data Engineer specializing in marketing analytics and conversational AI to support a large, nationally scaled higher?education organization focused on expanding access and learner success. This role sits at the intersection of cloud data engineering, advanced analytics, and agentic AI, helping transform how business teams access and interact with data.
You will design and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient data and AI systems on AWS. A key focus is developing knowledge bases and conversational, agent?driven solutions that enable business users to explore and act on data using natural language. The role emphasizes reliability, governance, and efficiency while enabling data democratization at enterprise scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and analytics platforms on AWS
• Apply security, privacy, and compliance best practices across data and AI workloads
• Develop and maintain knowledge bases and conversational agents that integrate structured and unstructured data sources
• Design and deploy agentic AI workflows that perform multi?step reasoning, orchestration, and autonomous task execution
• Implement and support machine learning workflows in Amazon SageMaker, including training, deployment, and monitoring
• Use AWS Bedrock to build, deploy, and operate conversational and agent?based AI solutions
• Ensure data lineage, observability, and data quality across analytics and AI systems
• Automate orchestration, monitoring, and logging for data pipelines and conversational agents
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure and repeatable cloud deployments
• Collaborate with analytics, marketing, product, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that improve insight accessibility and decision?making

• Master’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, software engineering, or a closely related technical or AI research field
• A bachelor’s degree combined with exceptional hands?on experience in data engineering and agentic AI may be considered on a case?by?case basis

• At least five years of hands?on experience with AWS services such as S3, Athena, Lambda, Step Functions, Redshift Serverless, SageMaker, Bedrock, ECS, and API Gateway
• Strong proficiency in Python for data engineering, automation, and API integration
• Hands?on experience designing and implementing agentic AI systems, including multi?agent orchestration, tool use, memory management, and autonomous task execution
• Experience with agent frameworks such as AWS Bedrock Agents, LangChain, or similar orchestration frameworks
• Strong SQL skills and experience working in large?scale data environments
• Solid understanding of ETL and ELT design, orchestration, and optimization in cloud platforms

• Experience integrating large language models into business workflows
• Familiarity with lakehouse technologies such as Iceberg or Delta
• Experience with DevOps and infrastructure?as?code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• Exposure to front?end technologies including HTML, CSS, or React for user?facing analytics or AI applications
• Experience with retrieval?augmented generation, embeddings, and vector databases
• Familiarity with emerging agentic AI patterns including ReAct, plan?and?execute, and self?correcting agent loops
• Background in marketing analytics, customer intelligence, or growth analytics
