Hybrid 2-3 days on site in Madison, WI

The Investment Systems Team Lead will guide a Business Systems Engineering team to architect, operate, and support front- and middle-office platforms with a primary focus on Charles River Investment Management System across public and private markets. The role will own operational processes, standards, and tools while serving as a senior subject matter expert for Charles River to align capabilities with Trading, Portfolio Management, Operations, and Compliance. The leader will drive incident management, resiliency, release quality, and vendor partnership to reduce operational and trading risk. The position requires strong OMS knowledge, leadership of 24x6 support, and cross-functional collaboration.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Qualified applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis.

Salary: $150,000 - $155,000/ yr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a 24x6 Business Systems Engineering team ensuring availability, stability, and operational excellence of investment systems with a primary focus on Charles River.
  • Own and improve the production support model including on-call rotations, escalation paths, coverage models, and workload distribution for sustainability and resilience.
  • Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response capabilities for Charles River and integrated trading-critical applications.
  • Act as senior escalation point for major incidents and production issues, coordinating across L1-L3 teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and problem management while driving remediation and preventative improvements.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation for consistent and high-quality support outcomes.
  • Own and lead business continuity, disaster recovery, and resiliency planning for Charles River, including testing, validation, and readiness.
  • Serve as platform owner and senior SME to ensure configurations, enhancements, and upgrades are supportable, resilient, and production-ready.
  • Provide leadership for configuration, workflows, integrations, and release management with emphasis on minimizing operational and trading risk.
  • Establish and maintain testing, validation, and release standards for production changes, operating as a quality gate.
  • Identify platform, architectural, and integration risks and lead mitigation to protect trading and investment operations.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team fostering ownership, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Trading, Portfolio Management, Operations, Compliance, and Technology to align support priorities and platform capabilities with business needs.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships, particularly with Charles River, to support incident resolution, escalation, and roadmap planning.
  • Communicate clearly with business and technology leadership during incidents, outages, recovery, and major platform changes.

Experience Requirements:
  • 8+ years of investment management industry experience with significant hands-on experience supporting and leading OMS implementations, preferably Charles River.
  • Demonstrated experience leading support teams including on-call rotations, incident management, and escalation frameworks.
  • Deep functional and technical knowledge of OMS/IMS covering trading workflows, compliance, allocations, and integrations.
  • Proven leadership with ability to develop, mentor, and engage technical and functional staff.
  • Strong understanding of investment operations, trading processes, and securities.
  • Experience integrating with platforms such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Aladdin, SimCorp, Eagle, and custodians including BNY Mellon.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with ability to document and explain complex Charles River configurations and designs.
  • Ability to influence outcomes and work effectively across Trading, Operations, Compliance, and Technology teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to design solutions using Charles River to meet business needs.
  • Demonstrated focus on quality assurance, risk management, and continuous improvement.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field preferred.
