Position: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Palmdale, CA

Position Summary

Responsible for supporting Manufacturing Engineering Planning activities, including the creation, maintenance, and management of Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOM) and Order Bills of Material (OBOM). This role analyzes engineering drawings, models, specifications, processes, policies, and procedures to determine the most efficient manufacturing methods and operational sequences.

The Manufacturing Engineering Planner develops comprehensive electronic work instructions and supporting documentation for production teams while ensuring compliance with engineering and manufacturing requirements. The position works closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams to support product realization and continuous improvement initiatives.

Additionally, the role supports management reviews, production meetings, and program activities by documenting action items, tracking progress, and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Create, update, and maintain Manufacturing Bills of Material (MBOM) and Order Bills of Material (OBOM).

Review and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.

Develop and maintain detailed manufacturing work instructions and supporting documentation.

Collaborate with Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Production teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with engineering requirements.

Perform revisions and updates to electronic work instructions and planning documentation.

Support production planning and shop floor execution activities.

Participate in management meetings, production reviews, and program reviews by documenting and tracking action items through completion.

Ensure adherence to established manufacturing processes, procedures, and quality standards.

Assist in identifying process improvements and implementing best practices within manufacturing operations.

Required Qualifications

Experience with manufacturing planning processes, procedures, and documentation development.

Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Strong technical writing and documentation skills.

Excellent communication, organizational, scheduling, and time management abilities.

Proficiency with manufacturing and enterprise systems, including SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, and manufacturing planning applications.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.

Required Skills

Experience with Teamcenter and/or SAP related to Bill of Material (BOM) management and Shop Floor Management (SFM).

Experience using iBASEt (Solumina), Computer Aided Production Planning (CAPP), Shop Order Maintenance (SOM), or similar manufacturing execution/planning systems.

Ability to navigate and interpret 3D models and model-based engineering data.

Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, process specifications, and manufacturing planning principles.

Knowledge of digital manufacturing tools and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, including Teamcenter and 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX), is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or other highly regulated production environments.

Familiarity with manufacturing process development, work instruction creation, and production support activities.

Experience working with PLM, ERP, and MES systems in a manufacturing setting.
