The Principal Java/J2EE Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications. This role requires deep expertise in Java development, cloud-based architectures, and modern infrastructure practices. The Principal Engineer will drive architectural decisions, mentor engineering teams, and ensure the successful delivery of critical software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex enterprise applications using Java/J2EE technologies
- Architect and build scalable solutions leveraging AWS cloud services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway)
- Design, develop, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning and maintaining cloud environments
- Develop and integrate RESTful and SOAP-based web services, ensuring performance, scalability, and security
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, promoting best practices in coding standards, system design, and architecture
- Partner with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to ensure system stability and reliability
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend tools and frameworks to enhance development efficiency and system capabilities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 9+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development, with a strong focus on enterprise applications
- Advanced proficiency in Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security)
- Hands-on experience with AWS and a strong understanding of cloud-native architecture principles
- Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Expertise in developing and consuming RESTful and SOAP web services
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile development methodologies
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
