Our client is seeking a Senior IBM Mainframe Systems Programmer for a Remote Opportunity

Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer with deep IBM storage expertise to replace a retiring senior engineer. Part of a five person systems team, this role supports a stable enterprise mainframe environment. Ideal candidates have 10+ years of mainframe systems programming experience plus extensive IBM storage, virtual tape, replication, and performance tuning knowledge.

Administer IBM mainframe storage; manage disk/tape for batch & production; configure IBM DS8000; manage LUNs and provisioning; support TS7700 virtual tape; handle replication, copy services & global mirroring; perform storage/I/O performance tuning; support z/OS, DB2, CICS, networking & security; participate in on call rotation; troubleshoot complex issues; coordinate DR processes.

The ideal candidate is a strong troubleshooter, shows long term employment stability, works across multiple mainframe domains, learns quickly, and collaborates well with a small senior team.

Skills and Requirement

10+ years as a mainframe systems programmer
Strong knowledge of IBM & 3rd party tools
Experience supporting & tuning IBM System Z environments
Specialized (some required)
IBM DS8000 | IBM TS7700 | z15/z16/z17 HMC & channels
Storage admin software: VTS, DFSMS, DFP, HSM, DFDSS, TDMF, DFSORT
GKLM, OAM, Mainview SRM, ICKDSF, IOGENs
IBM ECM | Copy Services Manager | Global Mirroring
DR planning | IBM System Automation | Performance tools (RMF, TMON, Omegamon, Intellimagic)
Rocket Zara | Zeke/Zebb | Z security & encryption | Physical site admin
Linux on Z; future Sysplex exposure
10+ years mainframe systems programming; strong IBM storage background; DS8000 experience; TS7700 experience; DFDSS; replication/copy services; I/O performance analysis; strong z/OS admin.
OMEGAMON; DB2 & CICS; mainframe networking/security; 3rd party software installs/support; enterprise batch experience.
