Technical Analyst (SQL Server database developer)

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Analyst with strong SQL Server and API development expertise to support and enhance transportation system integrations and reporting platforms.

This role is not QA-focused. The client needs a builder who can design, develop, and support database structures and API-driven integrations long-term. The ideal candidate will have strong database development experience, API integration skills (Python-based), and reporting expertise in SSRS, along with exposure to transportation or logistics data.

Key Responsibilities

Database Development & Management

• Design and build SQL Server database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and data validation logic
• Develop and maintain complex T-SQL queries
• Create new databases and expand existing data structures
• Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity

API Development & Integration

• Develop and maintain APIs using Python
• Build integrations between third-party transportation systems and internal databases
• Support future internal system-to-system integrations
• Perform API testing using Postman or similar tools

Reporting & Data Visualization

• Rewrite and modernize 17 existing SSRS reports
• Develop both scheduled and ad-hoc batch reports
• Create views and semantic layers for reporting consumers
• Support reporting needs for telematics, routing, driver operations, finance teams, and customer-facing reporting

Required Skills

• Strong SQL Server development experience
• Advanced T-SQL
• Python (API development and data manipulation)
• API development & integration experience
• API testing (Postman or equivalent)
• SSRS report development
• Experience building views and semantic reporting layers
• Ability to work independently in a production environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain systems
• Familiarity with telematics platforms such as Samsara
• Exposure to OT1 (transportation platform)
• Tableau or Power BI experience
