Description

We are looking for a Voice Network Engineer to join a contract opportunity with the potential for a permanent role supporting enterprise voice, collaboration, and network services in Pennsylvania. This position plays a key role in keeping Cisco-based infrastructure stable, secure, and highly available while improving communication platforms used across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with routing, switching, unified communications, cloud collaboration tools, and voice service reliability in a complex enterprise setting.

Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day performance and support of Cisco network infrastructure, including switching, routing, VLAN configuration, spanning tree operations, and access layer connectivity.
Administer enterprise voice platforms by maintaining Cisco Unified Communications environments, call routing components, and related telephony services across multiple locations.
Support cloud-based collaboration solutions such as Webex and Microsoft Teams, including account setup, dial plan updates, and coordination with connected on-premises systems.
Maintain emergency calling configurations and help ensure telephony services meet applicable E911 requirements across the organization.
Develop, document, and carry out disaster recovery and failover testing for network and voice platforms, capturing outcomes and validating recovery readiness.
Apply and tune QoS policies to protect voice traffic quality and sustain reliable performance across converged network environments.
Investigate and resolve call quality issues, service interruptions, and voice-related incidents using a structured and timely troubleshooting approach.
Lead or contribute to change management activities by preparing technical documentation, securing approvals, implementing updates, and completing post-change reviews.
Partner with security, compliance, vendors, and internal technology teams to align voice and network operations with regulatory standards and internal controls.
Keep network diagrams, dial plans, configuration records, and operational procedures accurate and current for ongoing support and future planning.

Requirements

At least 5 years of practical network engineering experience with strong depth in Cisco routing and switching technologies.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise voice, unified communications, or collaboration environments.
Proven expertise administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager, including dial plans, device pools, calling search spaces, and platform upgrades.
Strong experience with SIP and voice trunking design, carrier connectivity, codec negotiation, and dial peer configuration.
Familiarity with Webex cloud services and collaboration platforms, with exposure to hybrid or cloud-based deployment models preferred.
Working knowledge of E911 requirements and enterprise telephony compliance considerations.
Experience planning and executing disaster recovery or failover testing for voice systems with clear documentation of procedures and results.
Solid understanding of QoS concepts and hands-on ability to prioritize voice traffic through marking, shaping, and queuing policies.
