Position: Software Engineer, Embedded Systems

About the Role
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will help design, develop, and deliver high-performance embedded software solutions for advanced technology platforms. You will collaborate closely with systems, hardware, and software engineers throughout the product lifecycle to build reliable, scalable, and real-time software systems.
In this role, you will contribute to software architecture, implementation, testing, and integration activities while helping ensure product quality, performance, and compliance with engineering standards.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain embedded software solutions for real-time systems.
Translate system and software requirements into scalable and maintainable software designs.
Develop, test, debug, and optimize C/C++ applications running on Linux and RTOS environments.
Participate in software architecture, detailed design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
Create and execute unit, integration, and system-level test plans.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware and broader system components.
Troubleshoot complex technical issues across software, hardware, and system boundaries.
Ensure compliance with software engineering standards, quality processes, and best practices.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across development, testing, and deployment activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience with object-oriented software development using C/C++ in Linux-based environments.
Experience developing, debugging, and testing embedded real-time software.
Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as VxWorks, Integrity, LynxOS, Yocto Linux, or similar platforms.
Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.
Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances and work authorization as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with PowerPC, ARM, and/or RISC-V processor architectures.
Experience developing software for safety-critical or mission-critical systems.
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and computer-in-the-loop (CIL) testing environments.
Experience integrating embedded software with complex hardware and system interfaces.
Experience designing and developing software interfaces for large-scale system integration efforts.
