Summary

2050 Mainframe Operator

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Operator to monitor and support critical IT systems and infrastructure. This individual will function as a Level 1 Incident Manager for critical incidents and events involving various IT technologies.

The Mainframe Operator will be responsible for quickly identifying, creating, escalating, triaging, and tracking technology-related incidents. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal IT teams, customers, and external vendors.

This is a 100% onsite position with no work-from-home option. Candidates must have flexibility to work various shifts, including days, afternoons, midnights, and holidays as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Function as a Level 1 Incident Manager for critical IT incidents and events.
  • Identify, create, escalate, triage, and track technology-related incidents.
  • Monitor graphical systems used to track the availability and status of:
    • Infrastructure connectivity
    • Technology assets
    • IT services
  • Monitor IBM Mainframe control consoles and periodically check system performance.
  • Assist with the review and validation of Mainframe Job Control Language (JCL) as needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate with IT staff, customers, and vendors to address incidents and system issues.
  • Maintain awareness of system availability and escalate issues according to established procedures.
  • Perform deliveries and other assigned operational duties.
  • Lift and transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds as required.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong background working within an IT operations or technology support environment.
  • Experience monitoring and responding to technology-related incidents and events.
  • Ability to quickly assess issues and follow appropriate incident escalation procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with IT professionals, customers, and third-party vendors.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability and willingness to work 100% onsite.
  • Flexibility to work days, afternoons, midnight shifts, and holidays as required.

Technical Environment

Candidates should have experience working with technologies including:

  • IBM Mainframe
  • Microsoft Teams
  • What’s Up Gold
  • Pingdom
  • PRTG
  • Mainframe Job Control Language (JCL)

The position requires in-depth knowledge and at least five years of experience with Microsoft Teams.
