Job DescriptionOverviewWe are seeking a Backend Software Engineer with strong technical expertise, proactive problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset. This role involves contributing to solution design, participating in project planning, and supporting high-quality implementation across backend systems and services.
Key Responsibilities- Proactive Problem Solving: Contribute to the development of innovative solutions and assist in shaping and refining project objectives.

- Task Definition: Collaborate with team members to define tasks, milestones, and deliverables that support project progress.
- Agile Engagement: Participate actively in agile ceremonies, offering insights and feedback to advance team goals.
- Best Practices Leadership: Promote and model software development best practices, mentor peers, and contribute to communities of practice.
- Risk and Compliance: Maintain awareness of risk management practices and adhere to policies and procedures while supporting a positive customer experience.
General Functions- Design and implement technology and software solutions as part of an agile squad.
- Participate in agile ceremonies and influence activities from architecture through delivery.
- Lead or contribute to communities of practice to refine and document development standards and best practices.
- Support risk management and compliance efforts to ensure a positive customer experience.
Duties and Responsibilities- Define Domain-Driven Design (DDD) patterns for enterprise use.
- Deliver APIs and real-time data streams for assigned domains.
- Develop code and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in AWS using Terraform.
- Build microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and implement new features to enhance product and application quality.
- Serve as a technical expert and developer within an agile squad.
- Contribute to solution architecture across multiple services and applications.
- Develop software that meets established code quality standards and metrics.
- Mentor developers, support communities of practice, and promote knowledge sharing.
- Achieve operational excellence through automation and maintainable, testable code.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to improve service performance.
- Stay current with relevant IT trends and technologies.
- Assist with issue resolution for end users and customers.
- Create and maintain operational procedures for routine processes.
- Ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
Essential Qualifications- Expertise in Java/Spring Boot and Java 17 or later.
- Experience developing REST APIs.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices.
- Experience with Git and GitHub.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies.
- Understanding of security best practices in software development.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience developing in macOS environments.
- Proficiency with JUnit for unit testing.
Desirable Skills and Abilities- Experience with 12-factor application principles.
- Microservices development using Node.js/Express.
- Knowledge of Amazon ECS.
- Experience with greenfield application development.
- Terraform experience.
- Experience configuring and tuning embedded Tomcat.
- Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault.
- Experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
