Role Overview
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing electrical control panels for process systems using Autodesk AutoCAD 2D. This role supports both custom engineered solutions and the development and continuous improvement of standardized products. The Electrical Engineer partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality, compliant, and efficient electrical designs that meet customer and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical control panels and systems using Autodesk AutoCAD 2D in accordance with internal standards and UL requirements.
- Prepare detailed electrical wiring diagrams and control panel layout drawings.
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and select equipment and hardware based on customer requirements and project budgets.
- Coordinate with the electrical shop to support design execution and resolve technical questions.
- Participate in engineering meetings and provide project status updates.
- Perform functional testing on panels and support in-house Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
- Support shop setup of temporary test equipment as needed.
- Work directly with suppliers on purchased electrical components.
- Assist with preparation of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and product standardization efforts.
- Maintain awareness of applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
Experience: This role requires 2-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Technical Skills: Working experience with AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary. Familiarity with UL508A and NEC standards is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting electrical panel fabrication and testing.
- Exposure to ISO-driven environments.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.
- UL508A familiarity or certification is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite position at the office and mechanical site in the Chatsworth area. The work schedule consists of standard business hours. The role involves work in both an office and a manufacturing or fabrication environment, with occasional lifting associated with testing and panel support activities.
