About the Role:

Our client is seeking an Autonomous Controls Specialist I to support autonomous haul truck mining operations at a large-scale mining site in Arizona. This role is responsible for coordinating shift activities, monitoring autonomous haulage systems, and helping ensure safe, efficient execution of the mine plan. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and technology teams to optimize system performance and achieve production objectives.

Located approximately 100 miles northwest of Phoenix, Arizona, Bagdad offers a small-town lifestyle with access to outdoor recreation and community amenities. Relocation assistance and subsidized housing may be available for qualified candidates.

What You'll Do

Autonomous Operations & Mine Plan Execution:
  • Support execution of the mine plan through autonomous haulage systems and command platforms.
  • Monitor autonomous haul truck performance and assist with real-time operational adjustments.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate operational issues to maintain safe and continuous production.
  • Support safe and efficient autonomous haulage activities while responding to changing operational conditions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with maintenance, engineering, and technology teams to resolve equipment and system performance issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing autonomous haulage performance and reliability.
  • Assist with implementing operational and technology-driven improvements.

Performance Monitoring & Operational Coordination:
  • Track daily key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, production, and efficiency.
  • Analyze operational trends and assist with corrective actions to maintain performance targets.
  • Support shift decision-making by prioritizing work assignments and adapting to changing mine conditions.

Communication & Shift Handover:
  • Communicate system status, operational updates, and shift priorities across teams.
  • Document shift activities, issues, and key decisions to support effective transition between crews.
  • Ensure continuity of operations through detailed reporting and collaboration.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED, and five (5) years of combined experience in mining, heavy industrial industry, dispatch, fleet management systems, autonomy, project management, data analytics, continuous improvement, or data driven methodology; OR
  • Associate's degree in Automated Industrial Technology, Industrial Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Instrumentation & Control Technology, Business, Operations Management, Project Management, Computer Information Systems, Data Analytics, Mining Technology, or other related field, and three (3) years of combined experience in mining, heavy industrial industry, dispatch, fleet management systems, autonomy, project management, data analytics, continuous improvement, or data driven methodology; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mining Technology, Mechatronics Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Business, Operations Management, Autonomous Systems Engineering, Project Management, or other related field, and one (1) year of combined experience in mining, heavy industrial industry, dispatch, fleet management systems, autonomy, project management, data analytics, continuous improvement, or data driven methodology.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards
  • Competence in computer operation and applications
  • Organizational and priority setting - able to make complex decisions and prioritize outcomes

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Fleet Management Systems such as MineStar Fleet and/or Modular Mining
  • Dispatch
  • Diverse work experience in various areas of the mining processes
  • Conflict management - able to deal with difficult people or situations.
  • Influencing others - get work done through others and able to effectively manage up.
  • Negotiation skills - ability to be able to achieve target outcomes in an environment of competing priorities
