This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU LL BE DOING
  • Safeguard public health by leading inoffice and onsite engineering reviews, technical analyses, and quality control evaluations for routine to complex public water systems, ensuring full compliance with state and federal regulations and driving appropriate corrective actions.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor by providing expert engineering guidance on public water system submittals and requests through direct consultation, onsite support, presentations, and clear written communication.
  • Deliver exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders by supporting the agency's drinking water program, responding to inquiries, preparing reports, and fulfilling Public Information Requests with professionalism and responsiveness.
  • Lead and inspire as a senior subject matter expert, mentoring staff, providing advanced engineering assistance, coordinating technical work on key assignments, and serving as the goto expert for assigned programs and topics.
  • Shape the future of the program by planning and executing highimpact special projects that advance regulatory processes, data initiatives, rule development, legislative efforts, and Section/Division continuous improvement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Engineer I: Texas Professional Engineer's license

  • Engineer II: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus one year of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer I.

  • Engineer III: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus two years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II.

  • Engineer IV: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus three years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer III.

  • Engineer V: Texas Professional Engineer's license plus four years of fulltime engineering experience beyond licensure.

Career Ladder Progression: One year of fulltime experience at TCEQ as an Engineer IV.

Qualifying work experience includes obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.

WORK SCHEDULE

Standard business hours are MF, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Supply Division.
