Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced VMware Cloud Architect with strong expertise in VMware platforms and hybrid cloud environments. The role focuses on defining platform strategy, designing end to end architecture, and leading complex transformations across private, hybrid, and multi cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will have deep hands on experience with VMware technologies, strong consulting capabilities, and the ability to guide enterprise architecture decisions while collaborating with cross functional teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Lead assessment workshops to evaluate current infrastructure, operations, cost, and risk, and define target state cloud and SDDC strategies.
Develop business cases including cost optimization, ROI analysis, and migration planning for enterprise platforms.
Define governance models, landing zones, and operating frameworks for VMware environments.
Design high level and low level architecture including capacity planning, resilience models, and disaster recovery strategies.
Develop security architectures including micro segmentation and zero trust models.
Lead discovery, proof of concepts, pilots, and phased migrations for data center modernization initiatives.
Guide cross functional teams including network, security, storage, and DevOps teams in delivering solutions.
Implement automation and Infrastructure as Code using tools such as PowerCLI, Terraform, and Ansible.
Define operational runbooks, monitoring strategies, and observability frameworks using VMware tools.
Implement disaster recovery and business continuity solutions using Site Recovery Manager.
Drive cost optimization strategies including rightsizing, consolidation, and licensing management.
Collaborate with security, compliance, and audit teams to align with regulatory requirements.
Support RFP and RFI processes including solution design, sizing, and estimation.
Prepare executive level presentations and architecture documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience
10+ years of experience in VMware infrastructure and cloud architecture roles.
Experience working in enterprise environments with hybrid and multi cloud platforms.
Experience leading large scale infrastructure transformation projects.
Technical Skills
Strong expertise in VMware technologies including vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, Aria or vRealize Suite, SRM, HCX, and Tanzu.
Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation and VMware Lifecycle Manager.
Experience designing hybrid and multi cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
Strong understanding of networking concepts including overlays, segmentation, and egress controls.
Experience with Kubernetes and container platforms.
Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerCLI and familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or Python.
Experience designing high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools within VMware ecosystem.

Preferred Qualifications
VMware certifications such as VCP DCV, VCAP, or VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist.
Experience working with organizations such as Pacific Gas and Electric is a plus.
Experience working with compliance standards such as SOX, PCI, FFIEC, or HIPAA.
