Description

Join a winning team!! SAIC's Space and Intelligence Business Group is currently hiring to advance space capabilities supporting our Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community customers. Ten miles from the SAIC headquarters, our Chantilly, VA team supports systems development, targeting & intelligence analysis, systems engineering & integration and more.

This position is for a Ground System Engineer for a large contract supporting a cutting-edge and innovative space program. The Ground System Engineer leads oversight of developer software development progress and supports related systems engineering activities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Role Responsibilities:
  • Represent the Program Office at developer Agile events; ensuring that the customer and stakeholder needs are prioritized.
  • Engage with Agile Development teams to assess implementation and execution.
  • Assess developer test approaches and serve as Customer Witness to integration, verification, and validation tests.
  • Report results to the Program Office team.
  • Retain cognizance of the ground technical baseline, schedule, dependencies, risks and cost.
  • Provide technical and cost assessment of vendor proposals, review technical reports, design artifacts and program plans.
  • Provide support to ground requirements/interface definition, design, development, integration, test, deployment, and operations activities.
  • Advise and mentor customer personnel regarding developer programmatic and technical execution.
  • Develop productive relationships with development contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts.

Qualifications
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Bachelors and 9 years of relevant experience; OR Masters and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working on a Government or Commercial satellite program.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies.
  • Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment with no supervision.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification or similar.
  • Satellite tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, or dissemination (TCPED) experience.
  • Experience with cloud-based satellite ground systems.
  • Software test experience.
