Summary

We are seeking a Senior Content Strategist/Information Architect to support a large-scale digital transformation initiative for NYC.gov. This role will focus on creating structured, user-centered content and improving how complex government information is delivered to the public.

You will work closely with digital, design, and policy teams to create intuitive, data-driven content experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Define content strategy, taxonomy, and information architecture for digital services
Create content requirements, flows, and structured content models
Write clear, plain-language content aligned with accessibility and UX best practices
Conduct content audits, gap analysis, and inventory management
Partner with stakeholders and SMEs to translate complex requirements into usable content
Use Google Analytics and user data to inform decisions and optimize content performance
Perform research on government policies, regulations, and workflows
Deliver content artifacts under tight deadlines
Conduct QA and content reviews across workstreams
Define and track KPIs for digital content effectiveness

Required Skills

8+ years of experience in Content Strategy / Information Architecture / UX Writing
Strong copywriting and portfolio demonstrating digital content work
Experience with content modeling, structured content, and CMS platforms
Strong understanding of UX, accessibility, and plain-language writing
Experience with Google Analytics or similar tools
Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
Experience working in Agile / digital delivery environments

Nice to Have

Government or public sector experience
Experience working with style guides and editorial governance
Familiarity with NYC or large municipal systems
Experience with user research and usability testing
