Summary

Principal Electrical Engineer ESA (Electrical Signature Analysis) & Signal Processing (Pre-Sales)

Role Overview

This is a technical support to sales role (no quota) focused on acting as the engineering authority in customer discussions. You will lead technical conversations, demonstrate ESA-based fault detection capabilities, and defend the physics and mathematics behind electrical signature analysis (ESA) in real time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical discussions with customer engineering teams
  • Explain and defend ESA concepts:
    • Sideband analysis, slip frequency, bearing fault frequencies
    • Harmonics, VFD behavior, low-current signal detection
  • Demonstrate SaaS platform (real-time monitoring, FFT, predictive maintenance)
  • Contribute to proposals and SOWs (architecture, signal chain, validation)
  • Support pilot deployments (CT setup, gateway configuration, data validation)
  • Create technical content (white papers, application notes)
  • Provide feedback to engineering on signal-processing performance

Core Requirement

Strong expertise in ESA physics and mathematics, including:

  • Fault-related sidebands
  • Rotor and bearing fault signatures
  • Harmonic behavior and waveform analysis

Ability to clearly explain and derive these concepts in live discussions is essential.

What You Bring (Required)

  • BSEE required; MSEE in power systems, signal processing, or controls strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated mathematical depth in ESA:
    • Phasor relationships, three-phase power physics
    • Fault-specific sideband generation, harmonic signatures
    • Sigma-delta ADC and FFT signal chain
    • Ability to derive rotor bar fault sidebands (e.g., on a whiteboard)
  • Ability to lead real-time technical discussions in PdM / FireEWS / signal-processing domains with senior engineering stakeholders
  • Comfort with embedded hardware concepts:
    • ARM Cortex-M, SPI/I C, schematic and BOM interpretation
    • Energy metering ASICs (e.g., ADE9078 or similar)
  • Industrial electrical experience:
    • Automation, manufacturing, energy, rail, semiconductors, or similar
    • Systems involving three-phase motors, MCC panels, protective relaying
  • Strong English communication and confidence presenting to multi-stakeholder customer teams

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience with low-amperage current detection (relay coils, auxiliary contacts)
  • Exposure to PCB-level fault diagnostics (UPS, chargers, controllers, drives)
  • Predictive maintenance certifications:
    • CMRP, CMRT
    • Vibration Analyst (Category I III)
  • Knowledge of hazardous area standards (ATEX / IECEx)
  • Experience with Python for data analysis or automation
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools (KiCad, Altium)

Application Requirement

Include a brief note explaining:

  • Your electrical engineering background
  • How you would explain the physics of bearing fault detection using ESA in a customer discussion

Submissions without this note will not be reviewed.
