Bachelor''s degree. Six years of experience in information technology systems administration creating, analyzing, and managing information technology systems are required.  Additional related work experience in information technology systems administration including creating, analyzing, and managing information technology systems may substitute for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.

Miami-Dade County is looking for an experienced and motivated IT Senior Systems Administrator to join our innovative team of technology professionals. We are seeking a proactive individual who thrives in fast-paced environments, excels in systems administration, and is committed to ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations.

This role is a highly technical and analytical position within the Transporation & Community Solutions Division of the Communications, Information and Technology Department (CITD). This position leads and contributes to the design, analysis, testing, implementation, and management of complex communications infrastructure and cellular networks.

Job components incude the following:

  • Provide maintenance and support for mission critical real-time systems
  • Research, analyze, design, configure, install test, and manage complex hardware and comoponents, such as routers and switches, and their associated firmware
  • Plan and execute the recapitalization of hardware based on present usage and anticipated growth to support departmental automation
  • Identify and execute maintenance routines and document procedures
  • Document and manage systems, network configurations, topology, physical connections, and schematics
  • Coordinate software and hardware problem resolution with vendors as necessary to include root cause analysis and management of vendor contracts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to ensure compliance with departmental standards
  • Lead and manage projects involving the implementation of technological components and integration with back-office systems
