Summary

A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is seeking Trust & Safety, Threat Analyst/Risk Advisor. In this role, you will leverage your expertise to lead and contribute significantly to our risk evaluation efforts. You will guide and participate in a team of talented threat analysts and risk advisors responsible for proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with new and existing product features. You will collaborate closely with product teams throughout the development lifecycle to build safety into the core of our products. Your ability to lead collaboratively, assess complex technical issues, and prioritize practical safety solutions balancing user safety, business objectives, and technical feasibility will be key to success in this role. You will play an important part in shaping our safety-by-design practice and ensuring our products are safe and trusted by millions of users worldwide during this critical period.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product teams from planning through launch to identify, assess, and quantify Trust and Safety risks using an objective risk framework.
  • Analyze and test feature UX, technical design, functionality, and proposed safeguards.
  • Recommend mitigations that balance user safety, trust, user experience, business goals, timelines, effort, and established precedents.
  • Apply emerging abuse trends, industry best practices, and new technologies to risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and refine Trust and Safety principles and risk frameworks that guide product development.
  • Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to integrate and consistently apply safety-by-design practices across the organization.
  • Champion a strong culture of safety awareness throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Clearly communicate complex Trust and Safety concepts, assessments, mitigation plans, tradeoffs, and decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate constructive decisions about tradeoffs among safety, user experience, delivery, and business objectives.
  • Maintain clear, concise documentation of risks, mitigations, and key decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Sociology, Criminology, Legal Studies, Public Policy) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Trust and Safety, risk management, policy development, product security or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of online safety issues, including child safety, interpersonal safety, and other forms of online abuse.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess risks in complex systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance user safety with business objectives and technical constraints.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working directly with product development teams.
  • Familiarity with product development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to online safety (e.g., DSA, OSA).
  • Experience in developing and implementing Trust and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Certifications in risk management or related fields.
  • Experience presenting to leadership.

Type: Contract
Duration: 4 months with extension
Work Location: Cupertino, CA (onsite)
Pay range: $62.00 - $77.00 ph (DOE)
